Watford's original name was Watforda first mentioned in 1007 in Anglo Saxon charter.
Watford's Rivers
The rivers that run through Watford are the River Colne & River Gade.
Watford's first train station
It was called "Watford Railway Station" and opened in 1837 and closed in 1858. Replaced by Watford Junction station. This was part of the London to Birmingham railway.

The meaning of Watford from old English is thought to be "Waet" meaning full of water and "ford" shallow place on a river.
